The Beacon featured Heartbeat today. Is Suicide a Winnable Battle? Yes, I believe so.

"Battle" is the operative word. We can't forget that we are actually battling for our own lives and the lives of others. There aren't many of us who make it past a couple of years in the battle, and I have noticed that loss survivors tend to stay the longest. I have a feeling that's because we feel continually sort of desperate to help other people through this horror. Some of my mentors have been devoted to helping loss survivors for 25+ years, and the longest working among them are parents who have lost their children. Being together with them makes me feel like I'm not crazy for being sad and broken.
