Drugs and Addiction
17 Feb 2014
I just started a new class via FutureLearn, and when I logged in I started looking through my last class - Understanding Drugs and Addiction via Kings College in the UK.
I've gone back through this course before to look at topics, video lectures, and research data results. I love the way that the UK researchers deal with addiction. They don't even call it "addiction" or "recovery" much. Instead, they use dependence, misuse, abuse, and recuperation. They treat the afflicted as medical patients in need of healing, not like addicts who are somehow morally corrupt by nature. I feel that with care and kind treatment we will eventually find a cure. The university level instruction that's available for free via online MOOCs is amazing. I'm so grateful.
