Double Standards

I saw a billboard today that says "What if You got Blamed for Having Cancer?"

What-if indeed? Surprise and disgust at the double standard between below-the-neck healthcare and above-the-neck healthcare could turn out to be the most persistent topic of this memoir. I know why. I know it's because of the historic stigma originating from the church. I was complicit in my ignorance right up until I lost my daughter - and started shouting to the rooftops that mental illness is not a character defect. I'm done shouting in person. Now I'm shouting in print, online, and on the radio.
